About Us
Strengthening Communities Through Human Development

TANQA is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underserved communities through access to healthcare and education. Founded in Peru in 2018, we have spent over six years supporting indigenous populations and low-income communities across the country – from the Andes to the Amazon.
In 2025, we expanded our mission to the United States, continuing our advocacy for indigenous and minority communities.
Our vision is a world where vulnerable communities can access the tools and resources they need to thrive – strengthening their health, education, and holistic human development.
TANQA means “push” or “to give impetus” in the Quechua language of the Incas, the culture that built Machu Picchu and encompassed almost all South America. TANQA serves as a catalyst for progress, helping individuals and communities take meaningful steps toward a better future.
With a focus on education, health, and cultural enrichment, TANQA provides opportunities that propel people forward, ensuring access to vital resources, knowledge, and sustainable growth. Just as its name suggests, the organization believes in empowerment through action, fostering resilience, unity, and innovation within the communities it serves.
By embracing cultural identity and local wisdom, TANQA not only honors the past but also paves the way for a thriving future, ensuring that every initiative pushes communities toward self-sufficiency and lasting transformation.
Our chosen symbol is the Andean cock-of-the rock, know as “tunki” in Quechua, the national bird of Peru. The Andean Cock-of-the-Rock is known for its resilience and adaptability, it mirrors the organization’s commitment to transformation and growth. Just as the bird plays a crucial role in forest regeneration by dispersing seeds, TANQA cultivates knowledge and opportunities that strengthen the social fabric of communities.
Through collaboration, innovation, and a deep respect for cultural identity, TANQA ensures that every initiative—whether in education, health, or community-building—creates lasting impact, much like the Cock-of-the-Rock’s presence in its natural habitat.
Rooted in the mission to strengthen communities through human development, TANQA empowers individuals by fostering education, cultural enrichment, and sustainable growth. By addressing key societal needs—such as access to learning resources, health services, and digital literacy – it aims to create resilient, thriving communities where people can realize their full potential.
